The Oakta Fish and Game Club has a Trap Range at the Club for members and their guests to use. The Trap Range is located to the west of the main club house and consists of two automated trap houses, one mounted manual clay pigeon thrower, a patterning board, a dedicated trap building (also used for meetings and classes), and a storage shed.
Open Shooting
The club house currently has open trap shooting for members, guests, and the public. Open trap shooting is on Monday’s during the Summer and on Sunday’s during the School Year (please check the calendar for exact times and dates). If you are interested in learning more about operating the trap houses please email us or swing down for one of the open shoots
Trap Leagues
The Oatka Fish and Game Club currently fields a team for the “Tri County Blizzard League” Trap League. This typically Starts in the Fall and ends in the Spring. This is a traveling league which means that the shoots rotate among member clubs. Typically Oatka will host two of theses events during the League Season - volunteers are welcome and gratefully appreciated during these home shoots. All members and guests are welcome to join this league….and all levels of shooters are encouraged to join from the experienced to the novice to the experienced person that still isn’t good at shooting clay pigeons. The league only takes the shooters top scores….so if someone shoots not so well it won’t hurt the team…and it is still fun. Please contact OatkaFishGame@gmail.com for more information.
.
The trap range is located to the west of the main club house and has it’s own building that is used during Open Shoots, Trap League Events, and is also used for gun safety classes. The Trap Building is heated, has a bathroom, TV monitors for presenting, chairs and tables, etc…
Members are welcome to use mounted manual clay pigeon thrower between the hours of 9am and dusk. This thrower is mounted to the ground between the two trap houses. Please bring your own clay pigeons. Please check the calendar before showing up because we do have gun safety classes at the trap range and the range is closed during these times (sorry for the inconvenience).
The Patterning Board is located behind the Storage Shed. This is used to pattern your shot. NO BUCK SHOT is to be used on the patterning boards…it ruins the boards
Congrats to Tim Holtz on winning the NYSATA Handicap Division State Championship in July with a score of 96x100. The Handicap division is considered the most prestigious division in Trap Shooting.
Tim is a member of OATKA Fish and Game and regularly attends and volunteers at the open shoots the club hosts. Tim also represents OATKA in the Blizzard Trap league where he won a belt buckle for OATKA high gun in 2022.
Congrats Tim!!!!
